		<abstract>As a result of a recent Brazilian Ministry of the Environment purchase of Rapideye imagery that includes a government-wide end user license, IBGE has access to country-wide coverages of Rapideye ortho-rectified images (ORI) acquired yearly between 2011 and 2014. The total volume of 2011, 2012 and 2013 ORI datasets amounts to about 57,000 tiles. In order to make the use of the datasets easier, IBGE''s Department of Cartography (CCAR), created the CCAR''s reference collection by selecting, among the overlapping images, those with the most recent acquisition date that present no cloud cover. In order to evaluate the positional accuracy of these images for cartographic production purposes, CCAR performed an extensive quality check campaign that employed ground control points (GCPs) covering 2,307 Rapideye ORI tiles. It employed a total of 4,295 points covering around 1/7 of the total country area. When compared to GCPs, 90% of the samples on the images presented displacements of less than 7.67m, with a root mean square error (RMS) of 5.17 m. These results indicate that the evaluated images meet the specifications claimed by the data supplier. Due to limitations on the GCPs geographical distribution, several regions could not be evaluated such as the entire northern region of the country. Therefore, the results of this evaluation are only valid for those regions where GCP coverage exists, and do not reflect the behavior of the entire collections.</abstract>
